I thought I would start off by introducing myself

I am BlogNuts the voice of NustAboutNusery.com

The aim of the blog is to have one blogger, me, who will represent the views of the action goup and will blog on the most recent developments and canvas a variety of opinions.

The website has been up and running now for a while and the most popular page outwith the homepage is the documents page as we can all see

We have had 136 unique visitors and 3 enquiries through the contact us page. We have had visitors from all around the world and all around the UK with London the most popular city.

The only dissapointing thing for me is that we only have 22 registered users. Considering we have 75 families who will currently be impacted by the closure, I think we could do better. So we could do with more support. You can show your support by registering on the website or if you feel you can help then contact us. Registration will allow you to partcipate in the blog where you can share your views with our online community. Registration will also allow you to receive up to date developments through our monthly newsletter. It would also encourage all those hard working people who have put in so much time and effort.

Look out for more posts and I before I finish must say a big thank you to all the people who have been involved to date and put in so much time and effort

Please feel free to register and comment on anything you see fit

Re: Introduction to the Blog

We'd like publish more views from nursery parents and other local people on the 'Have you heard?...' section of the website

Please contact us and let us know why the service the nursery provides is important to you and your family.

Using the 'tag hut' land?

Hello

Just wondering if there have been any recent developments with regard to finding the nursery a home? The last I heard the council had given the nursery permission to use the old Tag Hut location. Is that likely to be what happens?

My daughter Jessica, is a pre-schooler at the nursery

Thanks
Gail

Re: Introduction to the Blog

Hi Gail,

Gill sent out this email last week that gave a summary of the situation - see below
I think we are waiting on Janette to make a decision on wether the temporary "Werneck's" option is viable for her.Janette is due to make a decision on the 23rd
Meantime Will is progressing the "Alba" option which would see Janette actually own the building and he and Janette are also meeting Tweed homes who have options on sites near the school to discuss what Tweed Homes may be able to help with

Andy

Gill's email:

"Anne and I met with Janette and her accountant tonight to review the affordability of the Wernicks options for the nursery and they have committed to coming back to us by January 23rd with a decision on the preferred way forward - including an indication of the funding gap that the action group would need to plug to make any of these temporary options viable from Janette's perspective. We have agreed that a commitment to moving forward would not preclude further discussions about other sorts of buildings (like the Alba option) or a longer lease...but would give us a funding target to aim for which could be adapted along the way if necessary. "

Re: Introduction to the Blog

It would be great to hear an up date post-23rd january, which has now maybe been superceded by the developer offering to build a pupose-built nursery ?? I gather the future is looking brighter and note that Janette is now saying "closure of the nurser is not an option". Sounds good.
With 2 children currently using the nursery and another on the way I am keen to support in any way to speed up the process towards new premises. It might be useful when possible/appropriate to let people know what the options, timelines and possible constraints are and how they can help (letters to support planning applictaion etc...).

By the way - why the village nursery is important to our familiy:
It is great for our children to be part of a local community. Without the wraparound care the village nursery provides, our daughter would be unable to attend the school's nursery class, making her transistion into primary choll more difficult. Our 2nd child came on in leaps and bounds when we moved her to the Village Nursery, and we so hope that our forthcoming 3rd child can benefit from the fantastic care there without waiting until he/she reaches the age of 2.
